The first of my weekly sketchnote newsletters - capturing all the multipotentialite things that I am getting up to in a rather scrappy way. The intent of this is to just share what I am working on, learning and experiences.

This came about after reading a book around tiny experiments ... so here is my tiny experiment! A newsletter - or rather a sketchnote with a summary of all the things going on .. as this is the first one this is roughly what the newsletter will be about

Sketchnote #0 I wonder...

Dot & Dash Consulting

Back in Oct 2024, I wasn’t a fan of networking events. But with goals to attend one a month, I started embracing them and connecting more. Just returned from ISC2025 feeling inspired by great conversations and support from visual thinkers.

Now, I’m brainstorming a new, more interactive type of meetup—something beyond the usual format.

Currently, I’m working on digital illustrations to update a client’s training manual and just wrapped up designing a cootie catcher (or whatever they’re called in the UK!) for a Canadian poet, who’s thrilled with the result.

I'm currently designing a Participatory Strategy Planning workshop for a client looking at their freelance business so this will be a great session using some of the techniques learnt on the ICA Technology of Participation methods course.

I’m also using SessionLab to design workshops for the upcoming sessions in September, including an AI-focused workshop and a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® session.

Upcoming Event: AI with the Digital Cafe
The experience session provides a clear framework to help non technical people understand both business and user needs, while assessing the impact of an AI strategy within your organisation. Normally a 3 day thing condensed into a short 90 minute workshop.

App project

Setting up a jira board to work on the first sprint - Most of which is back end technical things, but it gives me a chance to start working on the user journey maps and personas. Recruiting for round 2 of the user research and speaking with ND coaches to understand their world more and some of their pain points.

Got to refresh my brain with using XD as its been a long while since I had to do some mock ups.

Embracing the short-hand user flows to map out the functionality and then layering on the screens and the UI.

Lovebrain

Reading / Listening to the book Tiny Experiments this is around 6.5 hours of content distilled down into three pages. Love using rainbow markers and I am finding that I cross over into sketchnoting too easily. I played around by making a 'periodic table' of the key points on the last pages.

Enjoyed the 7th Birthday bash in London with Lovebrain a short hop on the train and there for a couple of hours, super fast catch ups with people before returning home.

Working on improving my memory recall getting roughly 16-18 random words memorised and recalled in under 5 mins super pleased as it started pre lovebrain with 2-3 words in 10 mins.

Missed a few days in my gratitude journal so I am filling in those things, it's easy to forget those tiny little moments that bring you joy these will be transferred to my success wall.

Creativity

The Sketchnote newsletter is my way of exploring visuals, which I am keeping a visual journal on which I just shared on TikTok.

This week's sketchnote features new icon containers inspired by "The Sketchnote Handbook" by Mike Rohde and arrows "Sketchnoting for Beginners" by Ashton Rodenhiser which I won at the ISC2025. I’ve also started working on portraits with Eva-Lotta Lam’s course—my first selfie attempt is included.

I also tried Laughter Club for the first time this week with Daftnation, run by Holly and Olie. It’s a mix of laughter yoga, improv, and clowning—hard to describe, but definitely fun! While I felt self-conscious at first, the laughter became infectious, loved the round of playground games which boosted up your energy levels and laughter, after about an hour the session ended with a calming meditation.

Current Pact(s)

PACT 1 (2 weeks) I will go to the gym every morning for 2 weeks - I'm turning up nothing more than what I feel like doing - at the moment its fasted cardio while listening to the Art of Hosting by Priya Parker.

PACT 2 (1 year) I will mindmap a book a week. Restarted this and onto book 3 The Art of Hosting, listening at 2.0x speed, to capture key insights—especially useful as I prepare for a full-day event in September. I genuinely love running these workshops. There’s nothing more rewarding than receiving messages years later or seeing people in the work they love doing the most.

PACT 3 (30 days) I will produce a weekly sketchnote summary - first one done and here! Aim to practice and improve my speed for icons, metaphors, hands, stars and portraits at speed to ensure I am ramping up for live facilitation work.
