#06 Connecting the dots

#06 Connecting the dots
Deep in concentration at Facilitators Connect 2024, sticky notes on a cardboard castle wall

Summary Weeknotes - Monday 25th - Sunday 31st August

This week has mainly been in workshops or designing them. Had so much fun designing upcoming workshops I'm hosting. So much to think about, room layouts, flows, materials for engagement, and then working out the US tax thing on Eventbrite before I could get my visual sketchnoting workshop out (not so fun).

Dot and Dash Consulting

Sheffield Digital is featuring a podcast interview I did with Sarah Lister, where we discussed my very squiggly career journey. It feels like ages ago now, but I’m excited to share it with you!

Upcoming events

This has been a long time in the making. Over the years, I’ve evolved my skills—from drawing simple stick figures to creating sketch notes, and now, mastering graphic facilitation. If you’re looking for ways to make ideas more engaging and impactful, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be hosting an interactive workshop to teach the fundamentals of visual sketchnotes. The series kicks of in Sept but there are other dates available throughout the year! Grab your spot, share in your networks. You don't need to be an artist!

Visual Sketchnoting Workshop: Bring Your Notes to Life
Discover sketchnoting: a fun, visual way to take notes, spark creativity & share ideas. No drawing skills required!

App Work

Discovery workshop kicked off this week with Trove Ventures - it's good to be on the flip side and not hosting and facilitating a session for a change. New insights came out from it when I was looking at a more helicopter view with scaling the app work.

Had a great chat with Monika Dabrowska who looks after small businesses looking to apply for grant funding and all the upcoming things that I may or may not be eligible for.

Facilitation

It has been a full week of planning upcoming workshops, I guess what most people don't realise is all the preparation work that goes on behind the scenes. Most people just see the delivery stage when they attend a workshop.

So this week for the AI opportunity and strategy day, the bulk of the session has been planned, designed and now designing the experience part of it so it involves superheros, ducks and pigs. (not real ones) Love the ideas that bounce when you work with a co facilitator.

IAF Strategy Day Refining up the leadership day - it's always a tough one when you have to facilitate other facilitators. Similar to cooking for a chef, but I am looking forward to gathering in person in a few weeks.

Discovery days – I’m creating visuals for an upcoming session for my partner, which will be a fun opportunity to work on branding and coordinating the colours.

The weekend marks one year since I was at the facilitator connect retreat - miss my buddies there a lot. Even though we catch up a lot on line since then its been a wonderful community vibe! most of us branching out and starting our own businesses.
