#40 After the Conference, Mentoring and an Event Meeting

#40 After the Conference, Mentoring and an Event Meeting
This is how post-events are for me.. Cocooning away and restoring my energy

Weeknotes — Monday 20 April – Sunday 26 April 2026

Summary of the Week

The week after a big event is always a strange one. The adrenaline drops, the to-do list disappears, and you have to find your feet again. I found time for the ND community in Skool, and preparing for the zombie apocalypse.

IAF Post-Conference

The week after the IAF conference has a particular energy. You are still processing what happened: the conversations, the things that worked, the things you would do differently, while also picking back up everything that waited while you were in conference mode.

It takes a few days for me to feel properly grounded again, after a workshop. I had several days of busy activity along with consultancy work so I knew I had to really rest and recover.

I went straight back to work, so I didn't feel like I had enough downtime. I'm giving myself permission to take it at a slightly slower pace this weekend and recoup the energy and time to get back to a new normal. Feels odd not to have so many hours or calls each week relating to the conference. I am missing the calls with PK focusing on things, getting stuff done. We had a few calls because we had to organise the post-event stuff meeting with event sponsors and event planners to feedback things ready for next year.

My fav gift!

I know I need more time to recover, and right now I have not been responding as much on socials. Two campaigns, one brain. I needed to scale back on socials and really properly rest. I know for next time I'll book a holiday for a a decent break.

App Development

Skool sessions this week. The neurodivergent entrepreneurs community continues to build, and it is good to be back in that space after a busy conference week. Wow I needed that brain-dump session on Sunday! So glad I ran, even though I was tired. I parked all those thoughts and ideas down. I ended up using that time in the session to formulate a playbook to pass onto, the next co-chair and volunteer group.

Getting you know you

In the week leading up to the conference, I designed a series of activities for service designers to connect with one another. Including icemelter for a team away day and an energiser. The zombie-survival theme allowed people to use their skills, have fun, and get to know each other creatively, moving past small talk. It was fab to be in a room with so many service designers for the first time in my career! Normally, I am the only one.

Unfortunately.. I can't share the pictures but it was so much fun!! a good way to see everyone's problem-solving techniques and personality!

Mentoring

Caught up with my mentee this week to discover lots of things to catch up on. Really love having several sessions with mentees as you can see the change over time happening. This mentee was really to move on and it was time to say goodbye and watch them successfully take a newfound confidence into the work they do.

I wonder...how you wind down from a big event tells you about yourself: the way you decompress, what you reach for first, what you let go of, how you protect your energy to recover.

If this resonated, pass it on to someone who might enjoy it. Subscribing is free and you can hop in and out whenever suits you.
