#21 IAF Conference, LEGO and a Year End Reset
December Facilitate Sheffield

Weeknotes — Monday 8 December – Sunday 14 December 2025

Summary of the week

The IAF conference planning landed this week. Alongside coaching, a job applications, Facilitate Sheffield meet up and a forest bathing.

IAF Conference planning

The IAF conference planning session happened this week and it was brilliant to see everything come together. So much work has gone into this from the co-chairs and the volunteers who are showing interest in getting things going. As ever, there is a ton of organising and planning in the background. Our Miro planning board is ever growing.

Dot and Dash

Had my business coaching call this week. Listing out some blocks I have, talking through what I can do to unblock things. Reviewing the things that we worked on between my sessions. Having that space to think, review, be challenged, and challenge myself more in my thought processes is something I value more the busier things get.

LEGO Serious Play this week too an online meet up, with other practitioners of the methodology. Always, a highlight to see what applications Lego®️ Serious Play ®️has in different sectors.

An answer to a question which I shared with other people on the call

Spent time looking at moving from Eventbrite to Ticket Tailor — looking at options for managing bookings for upcoming workshops. The behind the scenes admin of running events is its own project!

Then also sketched out client illustrations for some materials that I will transfer to digital, an evening on the sofa doodling away.

Sketching ... the work behind the scenes

Life and Admin

Preparing an alternative income stream as there is a quiet period with workshops, I looked at consultancy work, namely keeps me in the loop with what's happening in the industry, some roles popping up on LinkedIn lately have been pretty interesting. I have a few workshops lined up from Jan to March but it will not be enough beyond then, so I'm going back into consultancy land, at least for a bit. Nothing is worse than having to get your CV updated and filling out endless job applications. This time I'll be using recruitment agencies again. Let's see what opportunities crop up.

NUX Sheffield, we headed to the Treehouse for an end-of-year Christmas social, which was a great night out. Sometimes you just need that unwind with no content filling your head, just socialising and nattering.

Then, facilitate Sheffield had some lovely people gathering to prepare for next year

Whole morning crafting our start to next year

Had a wonderful Year end and reset with Helen Todd and settled into forest bathing for a few hours. Exactly what I needed at the end of a big month and busy past few months. Highly recommend getting outside and into nature when the year piles up.

I wonder... what would shift if we built a proper pause into the end of every big project the same way we build up towards a big launch? How would people feel, what would be different if we allowed people the right pace to decompress before ramping up with work again?
