#29 Contract Work, Client Interviews and an LSP Chat

Weeknotes — Monday 2 February – Sunday 8 February 2026

Summary of the week

Settling into the rhythm of contract work alongside everything else. A client interview, an LSP conversation and the app project ticking along.

Finding my feet in consultancy work

Deep into my contract work setting up introduction meetings. Getting access to the various tools and systems that I need. It's always a massive learning curve exploring how an organisations works, who the key stakeholders are to help you get your project work done. Everyone is super helpful, and it's great to be in a User Centred Design team again. Working with a range of interaction designers, content designers, user researchers, and service designers. I'm setting up a project plan, which is what I love to do when working in the discovery phases.

Dot and Dash

In parallel, client work this week included an interview at lunchtime with a potential client. I'm working alongside Rosemary for this bid, as we have complementary skills they are looking for. Interviewing for facilitation work is so different to, regular interviews. The organisation is really interesting as they are in the philanthropy area, and they are a few years from winding down, so they are disseminating their impact and work.

A chat with a newly trained facilitator looking to use this with academia and organisational development, and is writing a bid for funding, so I put her in touch with Simone who has done this already. I love these conversations; there are so many applications for the method!

App Development

Cooper chat, this week with our project update, feels like I haven't done much, but this is because most of the work going on is in the build phase with the tech development. I receive snippets of new features they have built, so it's really exciting, and I cannot wait to see the first iteration and get this tested.

I wonder... How many people have ever tracked their wins? I use what I call a success wall with a snowball method — plotting out the moments where I have overcome something, tried something new, and celebrated every success, no matter how small. Over time, it mapped itself out into something bigger: connections appearing, opportunities surfacing, work and collaborations I might never have seen coming otherwise.
