#36 Workshop Prep

#36 Workshop Prep
Mini workshop activities for pathways off the plateau participants

Weeknotes — Monday 23 March – Sunday 29 March 2026

Summary of the week. Workshop prep, more prep and even more prep

Dot and Dash

Round 2 for the workshop planning and prep for the final Pathways off the Plateau session. This one was going to differ as there are going to be three key speakers coming in and providing insight into their businesses. I interviewed them to find out more about what they are likely to present and what key things they want people to take away. This is so I can prepare an icon library for graphic recording and match up the right methods for the activities to enhance the talks.

Consultancy work is ticking along and it feels like a few things are getting ticked off on the project plan, not sure if I will get my contract extended but I really hope so - this is one of the most fascinating service design projects I am working on.

This week I was on a call with someone I met at a networking session. We scheduled a call, but I couldn't understand their purpose. They seemed to want to talk, explore collaboration, or maybe they needed help to navigate a life situation. It felt like a waste of time, but a huge learning for me qualifying leads. Being mindful of where my energy goes. I had put in a discussion guide in the appointment note - so it reminds me what this conversation is going to be about.

IAF conference event

The usual IAF meetings, emails, prep and a growing to-do list now that it's approaching ever closer. Still got to figure out the opening and closing for the event. Three workshops that I am co-facilitating, getting all the prep and materials for it. We are creating a mega-list of jobs to be done. Plus, we have the evening event to organise. Which has been difficult to organise as there are so many other meetings happening. So instead, we are doing two long working meetings to just get it all done.

Penny and Angel

More visual workshop prep with Penny this week. The session is taking shape, and I am excited about where it is going. We have condensed our mountains of ideas into what is achievable in an hour. Difficult, as we both have tons of cool visual ideas.

App Development

Michael from Black Tech in Sheffield contacted me for a call this week. Unfortunately, I couldn't make the event. But it was interesting to hear about the black founders' meetups that he is organising in the region. He asked if I waws interested in being a mentor, which I may consider - when I have some headspace post-conference.

I wonder... I wonder how quickly you can tell when a conversation is genuinely going somewhere — and whether you always trust that instinct quickly enough.
